Relying 100% on volunteers and being careful about overhead low, it costs approximately $7,000 to keep East River C.R.E.W. and LIC Boathouse afloat, most of which goes to insurance. While it may not seem to be a large amount, for many of us it’s virtually insurmountable. In addition to insurance, funds are needed for: boat maintenance; outreach to schools and community; enrichment opportunities; and purchases that run the gamut from personal flotation devices to banners and signage. From time to time, we also seek funds for special projects.
